AcquestArte presents Fabio Calvetti

Fabio Calvetti was born in Florence in 1956 in Certaldo, near Florence. Graduated in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Calvetti decided to devote his life to art. In 1980, he entered a phase of experimentation with techniques, materials and surfaces, which lasted nearly ten years. First, he left the oil on canvas, eliminated color and embrace the design, especially with graphite, but finally he reintroduced oil and acrylic. His works won numerous awards, worldwide, including exhibitions in Germany, Spain, Belgium and Korea. He received particular acclaim in Japan and France. The words of art critic Carmine Benincasa "The work of Fabio Calvetti is what drives to try to break down the door of a mystery not yet revealed".

Fabio Calvetti's artworks

Fabio Calvetti is one of the leaders of the  Italian New Figuration. His work is the expectation, the absence and the silence of the soul. Calvetti not hide the comparison with the America of '30ies and consequently the international press calls him the new Edward Hopper. It must be said, however, that Fabio has a unique style, which is timeless in an almost theatrical way: single women seem to be listening to themselves, locked in silence, waiting for something to happen.
