expressive art

is art where the image is the first matter of importance, in the context of a flat or spacious form with visible result. In English-speaking countries, these are referred to as visual arts. Expressive art is also sometimes referred to as plastic art, but that is a Gallicism which stems from the French term "'arts plastiques'". The term does indicate that the works of art are plastic, that they are tangible in contrast with, for example, the art forms of dance and music.
